My Story
Step Forward Health Aide was founded from lived experience and a deep belief that compassionate, integrated healthcare can change lives.
During my first pregnancy, I experienced bulging membranes at 15 weeks. Following an attempted rescue cerclage, I developed PPROM, placing both my life and my baby’s life at serious risk. Although I was advised to terminate the pregnancy, I chose to continue because my baby still had a heartbeat and was growing. I remained pregnant for a further seven weeks, holding onto hope each day.
Tragically, after noticing reduced movement, I was told that my baby had died in utero. I was devastated and had to prepare for a stillbirth, remaining pregnant for two more days after her passing. That experience permanently changed my life and shaped my understanding of how deeply families need compassionate, informed, and dignified support during pregnancy complications and loss.
By God’s grace, I was able to conceive again soon after. This pregnancy was supported with a preventative cerclage placed early and removed at 36 weeks. I gave birth to a baby girl, though our journey continued to be challenging. Shortly after birth, she became critically unwell and required two weeks of hospital care. She remains under neonatal follow-up. Through this experience, I gained an even deeper appreciation for the importance of early intervention, preventative care, and long-term support for families.
These experiences directly reflect the mission of Step Forward Health Aide: to promote healing, dignity, resilience, and compassionate care for individuals and families. They also shape our vision of a future where families are supported through loss, communities have access to preventative healthcare, and no one walks their journey alone.
As a qualified podiatrist, I have also seen how mobility challenges and untreated foot and lower-limb conditions can affect independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. This is why Step Forward Health Aide integrates podiatric services into its holistic model of care, supporting physical wellbeing alongside emotional healing.
Step Forward Health Aide exists to walk with individuals and families through hardship, recovery, and hope, helping them move forward with strength, dignity, and compassion, one step at a time.
